Ensuring a safe, bacteria-free water supply for your family

After enduring months of unhealthy air quality in Bangkok, Bangkokians are now experiencing unsafe levels of salt in their tap water as a result of high levels of sodium in the Chao Phraya water basin, bringing increased risk to the public, including children, the elderly, and people with heart disease, kidney disease, hypertension, or diabetes.

Salty water is becoming an annual event caused by increased sea levels and a lack of fresh water due to drought experienced earlier in the year. Usually water from dams around Bangkok is used to process and balance water from the Chao Phraya and other nearby sources, ensuring sodium content is kept within safe levels. Safe drinking water should have no more than 0.2 grams of sodium per liter, according to the World Health Organization and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, but recently some areas in Bangkok have measured up to 2.2 grams per liter.

“STIEBEL ELTRON is committed to maintaining a healthy and safe water supply for every home and business, and having peace of mind when using water is critical for families and employers in Thailand. The best solution to deal with salty or brackish water is Reverse Osmosis, a process that removes a majority of contaminants from water and reduces the sodium content to safe drinking levels.” said Roland Hoehn, Managing Director of STIEBEL ELTRON ASIA.

Using Reverse Osmosis (RO) is the best way to treat water used at home, as boiling salty water is of no use as it turns the water into vapor, leaving the remaining water with higher levels of salt. The Bureau of Food and Water Sanitation, Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health has issued advice to the public to ensure their safety and suggest using a Reverse Osmosis filter to treat water that used in the home, or to drink bottled water.

The simplest way to make sure members of your family have access to clean water is to invest in a trusted water management system.

As an expert in water systems, STIEBEL ELTRON has developed a water filter product range that is specifically designed to be a healthy drinking solution for every household. Each model features high-quality filter performance that produces pure water essence.

STIEBEL ELTRON’s ‘GLACIER’ is designed to reduce bad taste, chlorine, and other substances within water, including salt, making it the perfect answer to the problem many households in Thailand are facing right now.

“Using the Reverse Osmosis system within the water filter in your home can provide the reassurance and peace of mind needed to know that the water you consume is safe,” added Roland Hoehn.

In addition to blocking the substances that have negative effect on our health, STIEBEL ELTRON’s GLACIER has mineral ceramic balls installed that return natural minerals to water, producing better tasting high quality water. Furthermore, STIEBEL ELTRON’s Reverse Osmosis filter membrane has been certified for the NSF Mark by NSF International[1], and specially patented as being Eco-Friendly Reverse Osmosis (EFRO). The GLACIER can be used at home and commercial environments, and has been rated as one of the most compact water filters for metropolitan tap water as it removes 99.9999% of bacteria and 99.99 of viruses.

The GLACIER is also easy to install at home, and its design makes replacing filters a straight-forward task. The GLACIER can be both installed under sink or wall mounted, and its’ ‘twist’ function allows the filter to be changed with no tools required.
